Insider Tips on your Victoria Falls accommodation
By staying on theZimbabwean side of the Falls, you will get better views of the Falls. Some hotels on the Zimbabwean side are located in and around the town or near the Batoka Gorge, such as Ilala lodge, whist some such as the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge are located away from the Falls offering elevated views of the falls from a distance.
On the Zambian side, you are generally on the upper side of the Zambezi River and will be looking over the back of the Falls (easy day trips are available to the Zimbabwean side for photographic opportunities, and activities are very similar on both sides) the activities are considered better on the Zambian side (especially white water rafting as you paddle the full length of the rapids) The Royal Livingstone is a superb luxury option whilst the Zambezi Sun caters for a more budget conscious traveller.
If you are looking for Victoria Falls accommodation away from the buzz of the Falls, try some of the further upstream lodges on the great Zambezi. These lodges offer a more personal and private experience, and are often on a full board basis. Many have bush activities included and a free transfer to visit the Falls on a day trip basis. Some of the most romantic island lodges in Africa are located here, including Islands of Siankaba, our most luxurious, and Tongabezi for understated elegance.
