CHOBE NATIONAL PARK GEOGRAPHIC AREAS

We have segmented the Chobe National Park into 3 distinct geographic areas, each with its own character and appeal.

  • Chobe Riverfront and Kasane area is situated in the extreme Northeast of the park and is probably the most visited area within the park. The river is at its widest and slowest here, offerings lush plains and dense forests. Most lodges are located along the Chobe riverfront, allowing excellent viewing of elephants and buffalo. This area is closest to Victoria Falls and has easy road access from the town of Kasane.
  • The Savuti Marsh area constitutes the western stretch of the park and is 10800 km2 large. The region is covered with extensive savannahs and rolling grasslands, and is considered one of the most prolific wildlife destinations in Africa and the stage to many wildlife documentaries. This area is more remote than the Chobe riverfront and generally is accessed by light aircraft.
  • The Linyanti Marsh is considered a hidden jewel of the park. Located in the northwest corner, it is adjacent to Linyanti and Kwando Rivers with large concentrations of lions, leopards, wild dogs, roan antelopes, sable antelopes, hippopotamuses, red lechwe and elephant. Birdlife is very rich here. We consider this the most beautiful and remote area in Chobe and it is only accessible by light aircraft.

LUGGAGE RESTRICTIONS WHEN TRAVELLING BY AIRCRAFT WITHIN THE CHOBE NATIONAL PARK

For camps that are only accessed by light aircraft, a 12kg luggage limit in soft bags is imposed. Luggage over the 12 kg will be left in lockers at the airport and will be for collection on your return. The 12kg limit does not include photographic equipment or hand luggage, which needs to be of a reasonable size.
