Day 1 - 4: Sun City

Pick up your rental and drive less than two hours from Johannesburg and you will find the magical Sun City. Hidden in its own jungle, and surrounded by tropical gardens, waterfalls, streams and even a beach lies Africa’s premier resort. Giant domes and minarets, protected by a host of wondrous creatures, glitter in gold and invite visitors to get lost inside this magical African world.

Situated on the slopes of a picturesque valley in the Pilansberg Mountains, Sun City, South Africa has the second largest casino in the world and every form of entertainment and activity imaginable. World class golf, game viewing, adventure sports, fun in the sun, and the bright lights and thrills of the casinos, cinemas, video arcades, cabaret shows, restaurants and the lavish Sun City accommodation offerings make this the ideal destination for luxury holidays in South Africa.

Day 4 - 7: Madikwe Game Reserve

After 4 glorious days at Sun City, travel a further 2 hours north to reach Madikwe Game Reserve.

Madikwe is a malaria free reserve and offers 165 000 acres of prime game viewing including Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo, and Rhino. As well as the Big Five, Madikwe offers fantastic opportunities to view the rare and endangered Wild Dog which is a mega "tick" on any game viewers list. There is also extensive plains game and over 340 species of birds to attract your attention. The reserve consists of vast plains, open woodlands and thickets. The area is also dotted with huge rocky hills or inselbergs and the dwarsberg mountain range forms the southern boundary. There is only one river in the reserve, the Groot Marico, but a number of dams and pans provide water year round for the game species present.

Your typical day starts by rising in the morning to an African dawn and enjoy an early morning game drive with your dedicated professional ranger. Relax as your ranger guides you through the bush on a custom made open 4 x4 safari vehicles, searching out the Big 5 or the smaller secrets of nature.

Return from the excitement of the bush to a sumptuous breakfast or brunch and then relax at the pool catch up on some rest time or reading, or simply have drinks on the deck while staring out into the bush In the afternoon, when the heat of the African sun has diminished and the shadows are longer, head out again on a sundowner safari, where you will stop to watch the sun set on this bushveld paradise and enjoy your favorite sundowner drink.

Once the sun has set and darkness descends, set off again for a night safari where the more nocturnal creatures now rule the bush. Return to the lodge where you will be treated to the finest African cuisine with your hosts in the open air boma, and share your day’s adventures, while you enjoy a night cap around the fire.
