Days 1,2 3: Skeleton Coast - Serra Cafema Camp
Late morning of your first day you depart from Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, by aircraft and head for Serra Cafema Camp in the northwest of Namibia, Arrive at the Hartmans Valley airstrip and transfer by road to the camp.
The small 16 bedded camp, is located in the extreme north-west of Namibia and is further away from Namibia's capital city, Windhoek, than from Botswana's Okavango Delta. Serra Cafema shares this region with the wonderful and colourful Himba people who are some of the last true nomadic people of Africa. Often visited by the native Himba families who live in the nearby vicinity, which gives guests the opportunity to learn about their lifestyle and traditions.
Wildlife abounds in the arid climate surrounding Serra Cafema. The Kunene River has a large population of Nile Crocodiles and is also home to a number of endemic reptiles, as well as springbok, ostrich and oryx. Birdlife is prolific and includes the Cinderella Waxbills, Rufous Bellied Palmtrush and Grey Kestrels (these three species of bird not seen anywhere else in southern Africa) Palm nut vultures are seen occasionally as well as a number of the Namibian endemics.
One of the highlights of Serra Cafema is the carefully guided quad-bike excursions accessing some of the immense sand dunes to the west of the camp. Other highlights include 4x4 Landrover traversing, boating on the Kunene River and walking in the remote mountain and river valleys.
Days 4: Return to Windhoek
You depart Sera Cafema Camp for the flight back to Windhoek.
