Day 1, 2: Makgadikgadi Pans

On arrival at the Maun Airport, you will be welcomed by a South Africa 365 representative and transferred by road (approx 130minutes through Maun-Nata road) to Leroo La Tau Lodge, situated on the edge of the great Makgadikgadi Pans in the Kalahari Desert.

These saltpans are among the largest in the world. Unexpectedly, given the harshness of the environment, life here is abundant; brown hyena, oryx and springbok are just a few of the desert-adapted species that are often seen. Activities include quad biking and game drives. Alternatively, you could simply enjoy the wide, open spaces of this ancient lakebed.

Day 3, 4: Nxai Pan National Park

Following an early breakfast, you head overland to a pre-erected private campsite in the Nxai Pan National park, stopping for lunch en route at the famous Baines Baobabs, which Thomas Baines painted on his exploratory expedition in the late 19th century.

The fossilized pans are covered by short nutritious grasses and acacia trees, creating areas that are rich in wildlife and surrounded by vegetated dune savannahs. Extensive game drives explore the surrounding pans, affording you an excellent chance of seeing spectacular dry-season predator and prey action at the waterholes.

Days 5, 6: Okavango Delta

Once you arrive in Maun, you transfer by light aircraft to Gunns Camp set under leafy palms and African Ebony in the heart of the Okavango Delta.

The Okavango is an immense river that never meets the sea. Instead, its crystal clear waters spread across the Kalahari Desert, forming Africa’s largest wetland wonder, before the formidable African sun swallows the last of its outstretched fingers. Its waterways are a mesh of meandering and intercepting channels, creating a haven for Africa’s most celebrated wild

The highlight of the Okavango safari is the opportunity to explore the area by Mokoro, a small dugout canoe professionally guided by a local Mokoro poler.

The area is also renowned for the prolific birdlife you will encounter. Water birds abound, and rare sightings include the elusive Pel’s fishing owl, flycatchers, plum-coloured starlings the lilac-breasted roller.

Day 7: Charter flight to Maun

Today you fly to Maun, after an early activity and breakfast, and here this safari comes to an end
