DAY 1 – 3: NORTHERN KAFUE NATIONAL PARK

Upon arrival in Lusaka you will be assisted with your transfer to your light aircraft flight to Kafue National Park. Your private guide will meet you at the airstrip and transfer you to Lufupa Camp.

Lufupa Camp is situated in the centre of the northern sector of the game-rich Kafue National Park – the largest park in Zambia. The beauty of the park is evident in its diverse habitats with floodplains, miombo woodland, thick riverine vegetation and open grassy areas called dambos.

Your days will be spent exploring Africa’s varied terrain on game drives in open 4x4 vehicles. On your Zambian safari, you may enjoy spectacular wildlife viewing opportunities of resident prides of lion and leopard, hippos frolicking in the cool waters of the Kafue River and a wide variety of plains game ranging from zebra, buffalo, roan, sable kudu, Lichtenstein’s hartebeest and impala to the diminutive oribi. Elephants may also be spotted roaming the concession and you may encounter the occasional pack of wild dogs.

Accommodation at Lufupa Camp is on a full board basis.

Day 4 – 6: BUSANGA PLAINS

Depart Lufupa for an early morning game/transfer drive to Musanza Tented Camp, your base for the next 3 days.

Located in the heart of the Kafue National Park’s Busanga Plains, Musanza Tented Camp is located within a wildlife paradise. The Busanga Plains have an abundance of wildlife including, numerous antelope species, hippo, crocodile and predators such as lion, cheetah, spotted hyena and wild dogs. Leopard may also be spotted along the wooded tree lines fringing the plains, as well as elephant and a wide variety of bird species.

Accommodation at Musanza Tented Camp is on a full board basis.

DAY 7: LUNGA RIVER

After an early breakfast, you will be transferred by road to Lunga River Lodge. As you leave the area, you will enjoy your last game drive on the Busanga Plains and re-enter the Miombo woodland.

Located on the raised bank of the Lunga River, the lodge is situated within lush vegetation. Each of Lunga River Lodge’s six thatched-roof chalets shares a beautiful vantage point over the river’s meandering channel.

Lunga River is the largest tributary of the Kafue River and flows north to south through a mosaic of miombo woodland, riverine woodland and grassy dambos in the north-east of the Kafue National Park.

Species like puku and impala are abundant here and you may enjoy fantastic wildlife sightings of buffalo herds and elephant bulls, while lion and leopard are also regularly encountered. Activities include morning and evening game drives, walking safaris, fishing and guided canoe and boating trips.

DAY 8: DEPARTURE

You depart Lunga River Lodge on a light aircraft transfer to Lusaka Airport, where your Zambian safari comes to an end.
