Accommodation: 

The Suites at the Steenberg Hotel are a contemporary interpretation and a tribute to three distinct historic periods in the history of the Cape whilst offering Five Star accommodation and service excellence. The suites have been created within the Jonkershuis (most of the Cape Estates had these “young man houses”), and have been done within the constraints laid down in the Law for an Historic Building, the exterior of which is not permitted to be altered in any way. The interiors have been changed dramatically, as Government are prepared to be flexible about this provided “new life is being breathed” into an old building. The Cape Colonial Suite - Cape Town’s rich colonial and cultural history has contributed to this style, with sources as widely different as medieval Holland and Germany, the French Huguenots and the islands of Indonesia. This suite has its own private pool. The Khoi Khoi Suite - The Khoi Khoi, whose name means ‘men of men’ were some of the first inhabitants of the Cape. Peaceful, nomadic herders they are also among the first pottery makers in the archeological record books. This suite has two en-suite bedrooms and bathrooms. The Dutch East India Suite - Through their trading skills, The Dutch East India Company introduced Europe to the pleasures of tea, luxurious silks, rich spices and delicate blue and white porcelain.

Catharina’s has been transformed into a stunning new look, 90 seater restaurant with a contemporary feel offering great views of False Bay, the surrounding Steenberg Mountains and our beloved vineyards. A global interior with a twist of African injection, using tactile and homely fabrics covering locally custom made timber furniture. The designers have brought together local talent and raw material to create an exciting yet inviting venue. Earthy rich colours enhance contemporary design and complete the inviting picture. Inventive and talented Executive Chef Garth Almazan’s cuisine epitomizes sophisticated contemporary South African cuisine.
