Located on the southern tip of Chief’s Island, Stanley’s Camp borders the southern section of the Moremi Game Reserve. This private community concession is located by definition in a seasonal delta and the floodwaters usually arrive around June. The area is home to a wide variety of big game including elephant, buffalo, giraffe, hippo, lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog.
Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp consists of eight classic safari tents on raised wooden decking. Each unitoffers en-suite facilities, a private deck and is equipped with a hairdryer and ceiling fan. The main building is also raised on decking, its main support being a large sausage tree. There is also a swimming pool. Electricity, 220 volts, is supplied by a combination of silent packed generator and battery system allowing 24-hour power supply.
Large wooden decks provide private areas for guests to relax in hammocks or enjoy cocktails before dinner in the spectacular dining mess.
Game Drives - Enjoy thrilling guided game drives in customised open-sided 4X4 vehicles. As Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp is situated on a private concession, night drives are offered and are usually combined with the afternoon activity. Walking Safaris - Explore the areaon foot with skilled, armed professional guides and experience the bush from a different perspective. Mokoro Excursion: The Okavango Delta is of course flooded for much of the year and when it is, guests can experience serene silence at the gentle pace of a poled mokoro excursion along the narrow Delta channels. Guests can sit back and relax as they glide through lily ponds on local dugout canoes while they get eye to eye with a buffalo as it laps water from the river, watch crocodiles sunbathe on the banks or cruise past a pod of hippos as they lie in a pool. Fish eagles, frogs and fabulous lilies form much of this experience, but more frequently it is the quietness and gentle pace that makes its impression on guests after a mokoro morning
