Our holiday – where to start. First of all, everything went like clockwork. Everyone was there to meet us at the scheduled times and places, our names were on every list and it was just so stress free – amazing.

I can’t tell you how much we enjoyed ourselves and I’ll share some photos with you when I get them organized. I think there’s only about 3000 to go through!

Some of the highlights

Simbavati River Lodge was absolutely amazing. We actually saw all of the big 5 on our first day – WOW! Our guides were brilliant, the accommodation was fantastic and the setting was just gorgeous. This is probably the highlight of the holiday – we were just so spoilt for the amount of animals we saw and we couldn’t believe how close we got to them. We got to see a lioness and her cubs, and our guide even made a special effort on our final morning to check out some wild dogs before we left. Unbelievable.

The rafting experience at Victoria falls was incredible – although I suffered for the next four days unable to walk up or down stairs after tackling the climb out. That was harsh! We bought the DVD so we can relive ourselves all being thrown out of the raft (twice for Darren and myself).

The elephant safari was great and we bought our elephants footprints which I’ll frame and put up as a reminder of our holiday. You were right about Victoria Falls itself, not much there and lots of hassling on the streets to buy stuff, but we enjoyed our stay.

Chobe was very nice, although the safari drive was disappointing after being compared to the off road experience at Simbavati. The river cruise was good, but we hired a boat the following day with our own guide and I would highly recommend that as a much more worthwhile experience than the big boat. Watching the sunset on the big boat was nice, but the boat was packed and the close up experience on the small boat was inexpensive and thoroughly enjoyable.

Pom Pom – what an experience the small plane was. Flying low enough to see the wildlife and our pilot followed part of the Chobe river on the way home so we saw hundreds of zebra and elephants from the air. The camp itself was lovely and the mokoro experience was a bit nerve racking being in such a small boat, but wonderful to see things at such a different level. On our final game drive we even watched a leopard hunting (although unsuccessfully). Again, our guides were brilliant. Nothing ever seemed too much trouble and they really know their stuff!

Cape Town – what a beautiful city. We really enjoyed the peninsular tour, even though it was very windy on the Cape. We saw three southern right whales (another new experience for us all) and our guide was fantastic. On our free day we jumped on the red city bus and went up Table Mountain on the cable car. Even Darren, who was born and bred in Canberra and wouldn’t live anywhere else, said he could see himself living in Cape Town.

All in all the most fantastic holiday we’ve had and I’ll be recommending South Africa in particular as a place my friends should go. Of course I’ll be recommending you as a travel agent because you put together a wonderful package for us and I am just amazed at how everything came together so easily from my end. With all the air travel we did and the guided tours, to have everything happen as it should is almost unheard of. The people have been so incredibly friendly – particularly our guides. The only place I’d probably avoid in the future if I could would be Victoria Falls airport – very busy!!

So thank you for making our holiday such a wonderful experience. This is a dream come true for me and something none of us will ever forget. While I think this was our last big family holiday, I most definitely will be back and the Serengeti and the Masai Mara will most definitely be on the list. It may take a few years to get there, but I will be back.

Just to let you know that Glenda and Carolyn had a splendid time in Kruger.  They loved all the people on the tour and got along with everyone.  They commented that the staff all seem to love their jobs so much which means their enthusiasm is real and contagious.  (It even makes me want to go there!)  They were well taken care of and despite a late start due to the bus getting lost and not being able to find the StayEasy hotel, they had a great time.  The weather was not too chilly for them and they raved about the whole experience.  They saw everything they wanted to.  Thank you for all your hard work.

Well we have been back from our trip for three weeks now and it all seems like a distant memory.

I just wanted to thank you for setting up a fabulous trip for us.  We all had a great time and the camps you chose for us were all fantastic and had a great variety of sights and animals.  My friends and I are all very well travelled and have been around the world, including having taken quite a few safari’s and all of us thought this was one of our best trips ever.  We also thoroughly enjoyed our time in South Africa and the guys had a blast at the World Cup games.  Everyone in Botswana and South Africa treated us so well we can’t wait to return.
