DAY 1
Upon your arrival at Deception Pan in Botswana’s Kalahari Desert, you will be met by a Zoologist/Biologist Guide. Transfer your baggage to your private vehicle and set off for a slow meander/game drive to familiarise yourselves with the area and then on to your dune-top camp at Sunday Pan. Arrive in good time to shower and unpack before an explanation of the formation of the Kalahari valley and the transporting sight of an incredible Sunday Pan sunset.
DAY 2
Your Kalahari Desert safari starts with an early drive up to Leopard pan in the cool morning light. In this isolated wilderness area you may be able to spot honey badgers, jackal, leopard and predators such as lion, cheetah and the occasional pack of wild dog. Head back to the camp in time for a delicious lunch.
In the afternoon, take a trip up to the famous Deception Valley campsite. The valleys are a unique ecosystem within the Kalahari and you can expect to find large concentrations of springbuck and gemsbok on the verdant beds of sweet desert grasses.
Meerkat abound in this area and you may also have the chance to see brown hyenas, as well as exceptional bird life.
DAY 3
Today your Botswana safari continues to Passarge Valley in search of predators and prey. Here you’ll enjoy a packed lunch and have an in-depth exploration into the Kalahari ecology and wildlife, which includes behavioural observations of unique desert- adapted mammals and birds. Return to camp for a sumptuous dinner and a cosy evening under canvas.
DAY 4
Explore the Kalahari Desert by taking a drive into the stabilised dune area to examine the floral and faunal variations between the valley and dune ecologies. Here you may enjoy spectacular wildlife viewing opportunities of fleeting herds of gemsbok, the elusive Kalahari giraffe and the ever-present steenbok.
DAY 5
Your Botswana safari comes to an end as you drive to the airstrip at Deception Valley, where you will be collected by private charter to continue your journey home.
