Predators were introduced in 1996 making Madikwe a Big Five destination. Due to its wide range of habitats Madikwe is able to conserve all of the main African game species and has the second largest elephant concentration in South Africa. Madikwe is also home to the nearly extinct African wild dog, one of Africa’s most formidable hunters, and the cheetah, the fastest mammal in the world with a top speed of over 100 kilometres per hour.
