Day 1 – THURSDAY/SUNDAY
Rovos Rail departs from Rovos Rail’s private station in Capital Park.
Officially opened in 1943, Capital Park was once the bustling hub of steam locomotion in the old Transvaal. Now the home of Rovos Rail, it boasts a small railway museum in addition to its other comprehensive facilities and will, with the addition of semaphore signals and a footbridge, recreate the atmosphere of a fully fledged railway system in gracious colonial style.
Lunch is served en route to Zeerust. Zeerust is a typical bushveld town and is the closest South African town to the capital of Botswana, Gaborone (115Km ) Dinner is served as the train arrives in Zeerust.
Day 2 – FRIDAY/MONDAY
Breakfast and lunch are served in the dining cars en route.
Dinner is a formal affair and served in the charming Victorian atmosphere of the dining cars. Meals, carefully prepared, are complemented by a selection of fine South African wines.
The Observation Car seats 32 passengers and takes up the rear end of the train. The coach next to it contains a smoking lounge which seats eight. At the centre of the train we have, when numbers dictate, a non-smoking Lounge Car, which seats 26 passengers in comfort. In maintaining the spirit of travel of a bygone era, there are no radios or television sets onboard and the use of cellular telephones is confined to the privacy of the suites.
Day 3 – SATURDAY/TUESDAY
Breakfast and lunch is served in the dining car/s as the train motions towards Victoria Falls for the end of your journey.
Victoria Falls marks the natural border between Zambia and Zimbabwe; both countries have picturesque and historic towns offering superb activities and variety of excellent accommodation. Here, sightseeing, culture, luxury, adventure and so much more is all rolled into one.
