General Information
Lion Sands River Lodge is situated in the shade of ancient trees on the banks of the Sabie River in the exclusive Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve.
Sharing an unfenced border with the Kruger National Park, the Sabi Sands is well known for its exclusive and luxurious accommodation and superb Big 5 wildlife sightings – in particular leopard.
The location of the lodge means that you needn’t go far to see wildlife. In fact, a number of wooden viewing decks at the lodge provide the perfect place to relax with a refreshing drink while you look out over the river that is a popular hangout for a variety of species.
Other public areas include a lounge and bar with a fireplace (a great place to relax after dinner and listen to the night sounds of the wild), 2 swimming pools (heated in winter) that overlook the river, a secluded bird hide and both an indoor and outdoor boma dining area. There is also the magnificent River Island Deck; a raised wooden platform shaded by large trees that overlooks the river – the ultimate spot for a late afternoon drink as the sun goes down.
Lion Sands River Lodge is family owned and offers exceptional levels of service and a sublime Kruger safari holiday.
For the ultimate safari experience, guests can opt to spend a night (at an additional cost) in the Lion Sands Tree House. You’ll be taken to the tree house after the evening game drive and collected the next morning. The open-air tree house is equipped with mosquito netting over the bed, a spotlight and a radio, as well as tasty delights to nibble on.
