DAY 1 – 3: THE PANOROMA ROUTE

Collect your car at Johannesburg airport and drive directly into Mpumalanga province, a subtropical garden of natural delights.

This area is known for its unbeatable scenic beauty, the wildlife, birds and plant life. A drive along the Panorama Route - a 70 kilometre long circular drive - provides mind expanding views of some of Africa’s most beautiful terrain and dramatic landscapes. Take a peek out of God’s Window - a 600 metre high viewpoint on the edge of an escarpment – with rock formations, waterfalls and magnificent views of the Blyde River Canyon (the third largest green canyon in the world). Visit the astounding geological features at Bourke’s Luck Potholes and Pilgrim’s Rest, a quaint and beautifully restored mining town which is also a South African national monument.

The Royal Hotel is a charming hotel in the town of Pilgrim’s Rest that we recommend for standard accommodation. As a luxury accommodation option, Cybele Forest Lodge is a beautifully appointed retreat situated deep in the Cybele Forest Lodge.

DAY 3 – 5: KRUGER NATIONAL PARK

After 3 days in the Panorama region, its time for the world famous Kruger National Park - the largest, and arguably the most popular, game reserve in South Africa. Home to many different species of animals including the Big 5, Little 5, the birding Big 6 and many species of mammals, the Kruger National Park boasts one of the most incredibly diverse fauna and flora.

On your Kruger safari you won’t need your car as safaris are conducted in open 4x4 safari vehicles with experienced guides. When you are not on safari, you can laze next to the pool or enjoy a relaxing sundowner.
Standard accommodation is at Simbavati River Lodge, and luxury accommodation is at the Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge.

After 2 nights on safari you return to Johannesburg via car (which is an approximate 6 hour drive).

Please note: Should you prefer to stay within the SANP (Government Kruger lodges) and not the private lodges suggested above, this can be arranged for you. In the SANP lodges you will conduct your own safari on a self-drive basis and without a ranger.
