Grootbos Garden Lodge is a 5-star family-friendly lodge, perched on a slope of the Duineveld Mountains.  The lodge is located at the start of the scenic Garden Route, and so is a great place to begin your Garden Route holiday. Set amongst lush indigenous fynbos gardens, Grootbos Garden Lodge resembles a modern-day Garden of Eden.

Situated in the Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, Grootbos Garden Lodge is located along South Africa’s beautiful Whale Coast. A conservation haven, Grootbos Garden Lodge offers sweeping views across fynbos-clad mountains and the blue waters of the Indian Ocean.

This eco-friendly lodge is built using local stone, thatch and fine timber, complementing its pristine natural environment. Boasting a luxurious style, Grootbos Garden Lodge’s charming interiors are filled with African decor – creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Rooms

Grootbos Garden Lodge comprises 11 private suites, decorated in original, hand-painted floral and bird themes. All the suites feature romantic canopy beds, spacious en-suite bathrooms, separate lounges with cosy fireplaces, mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities and a private wooden deck with spectacular views.

The room types are:

One-Bedroom Luxury Suites: These spacious suites open out onto a private outside deck overlooking the Walker Bay and offer facilities such as a separate bath, shower and toilet, satellite TV, safes and DVD player.

One-Bedroom Classic Suites: These suites offer all the luxurious facilities as the One-Bedroom Luxury Suites, however the One-Bedroom Classic Suites do not have a bath; they are only equipped with a shower.

Two-Bedroom Luxury Suites: Epitomising luxurious home-from-home comforts, these suites are ideal for families or friends travelling together. Two-Bedroom Luxury Suites feature two private en-suite bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms (one with shower and one with bath), separate lounge and dining area and a private outside deck overlooking Walker Bay.

Dining

Grootbos Garden Lodge offers a delectable fusion of Oriental flavours and traditional dishes. Indulge in fresh fish, succulent meat and freshly picked vegetables served at the lodge’s cosy African-style Garden restaurant. Complement your meal with a glass of award-winning wine from the Cape Winelands.

Activities

Grootbos Garden Lodge offers a range of activities to enjoy on your South African holiday including 4x4 nature drives, whale watching, Klipgat Cave excursions, horse-riding, shark cage diving, marine Big 5 (whale, dolphin, shark, seal and penguin) cruises, scenic flights, wine tours, flower safaris, swimming, spa treatments and birding tours.
