Advice for Garden Route Beach Holidays

•  African sun is not to be trifled with, and sun cream is essential! Anyone looking to relax on the beach should think about investing in an umbrella or covering. There are many portable options for long-distance travelers. Between 11h00 and 15h00 is when the sun’s rays are the harshest and it’s advisable to avoid direct sunlight during this time.
• The best footwear for exploring the beach or coastal towns is open-toe, informal shoes, or as locals call them, ‘slip slops’.
• For a long day on the beach a ‘cooler bag’ is handy for cool drinks and snacks.
• Keep the kids busy with buckets, spades, bats, balls and Frisbees.
• It’s a good idea for visitors to bring more than one swimming costume in case they’re ready to take a dip before their bikini or trunks have dried.
• Pack more than one beach towel and a sarong or two to throw over swimming costumes. A lot of beach resorts or hotels do not provide towels, or do so at an extra charge.
