Fugitives’ Drift Lodge is set on a hillside above the Buffalo River Gorge, overlooking the world-famous battlefields of the Anglo-Zulu War. Recognised as a Natural Heritage Site, Fugitives’ Drift Lodge offers luxury accommodation in an extraordinary setting.

Steeped in history, Fugitives’ Drift Lodge is designed to compliment its natural surroundings. Adorned with Zulu memorabilia, artefacts and relics, this lodge allows guests to savour the historic clash between two great nations.

Situated on a private game reserve, Fugitives’ Drift Lodge has much to offer the nature enthusiast. Home to an abundance of game and birdlife, guests may enjoy spectacular viewing opportunities of giraffe, zebra, kudu, hartebeest and host of smaller antelope, as well as more than 250 species of bird.

Rooms

Fugitives’ Drift Lodge offers a choice of accommodation in either the lodge or the beautiful Guesthouse. The lodge comprises eight luxury en-suite rooms each with a private veranda, offering spectacular views over the plains and the Buffalo River Gorge. The Lodge is also home to the Annex Cottage which has two en-suite bedrooms and a sitting area – perfect for smaller families or couples travelling together.

The Fugitives’ Drift Guesthouse consists of six luxury en-suite rooms. Beautifully decorated, rooms have private verandas with sweeping views of the reserve and surrounding battlefields.

Dining

Fugitives’ Drift Lodge offers mouth-watering cuisine with a unique fusion of local and contemporary flavours. Start the day with a full English breakfast, and enjoy a lunch buffet al fresco. Unwind with sundowners around the fire, followed by a five-course dinner, served in the splendid atmosphere of a veritable museum of Zulu-Anglo War memorabilia.

Explore the historic battlefields with tours of Islandlwana, Rorke’s Drift, Fugitives’ Drift, Mangeni Falls, Masondo and trips to the Blood River.
