DAY 1 – 3: OKAVANGO DELTA, WATER BASED CAMP

On arrival at the Maun Airport, you will be welcomed by a South Africa 365 representative and transferred by light aircraft (approximately 30 minutes) to your Okavango safari camp in the permanent waterways of the Delta.

The Okavango Delta is the largest inland delta in the world. Surrounded by islands covered with palm fringed trees and clear water channels, the Okavango Delta boasts an exceptional diversity of wildlife.

On your northern Okavango safari, explore this wildlife oasis by mokoro (dugout canoe), guided by a local mokoro poler. Among the many lagoons, channels and green islands you may spot hippos munching on the lush vegetation and witness elephants splashing in the water to escape from the heat of the African sun. Enjoy spectacular photo opportunities of big-jawed crocodiles lazing on the riverbanks, and if you’re lucky you might see a shy rare swamp antelope hiding among the reeds. See big cats hunt on early morning and evening game drives, and discover the different habitats of the Okavango Delta with an informative walking safari, led by a knowledgeable local guide.

The tranquil waters of the Okavango Delta provide a rich and rewarding area for fishing. On your fishing safari, tame the mighty tiger fish and hook other species such as barble, nembwe, bream and African pike. Avid bird watchers can enjoy more than 500 species of bird including rare sightings of the elusive Pel’s fishing owl, flycatchers, plum-coloured starlings and lilac-breasted roller.
