General Information

Dune Camp is a charming tented camp, offering complete privacy and tranquillity. Nestled amidst the red dunes of the NamibRand Nature Reserve, Dune Camp provides the perfect base from which to explore vast stretches of awe-inspiring nature. The surrounding area is rugged and arid and offers a haunting beauty that is unmatched in Southern Africa.

Situated on the edge of a towering 250-metre dune, this rustic camp offers guests a personal and traditional desert experience from a bygone era. Boasting an intimate and peaceful atmosphere, Dune Camp has a down-to-earth feel – providing a feeling of oneness with nature.

Guests at Dune Camp may enjoy spectacular viewing opportunities of gemsbok, mountain and plains zebra, springbok, red hartebeest, bat-eared fox, spotted hyena, cape fox and African wildcat. The area has a prolific birdlife with over 100 species to keep your interest.

Rooms

Dune Camp offers accommodation in six comfortable dome-shaped tents, built on individual wooden decks above the dunes. The tents are furnished with twin or double beds, bedside tables and a suitcase rack, and complimentary soaps and lotions add a touch of luxury. Each tent offer a private bathroom, fitted with a shower, flush toilet and his and hers basins, and a spacious veranda offers a perfect spot for sleeping under the desert skies.

Dining

Indulge in a sumptuous breakfast buffet which includes a selection of fruits, freshly baked breads, yoghurt, cereals, cheeses and cold meats, and enjoy a crisp salad or light cooked meal for lunch.

Evening menus are read by staff first in their native language, then in English. The delicious three-course dinner is prepared in the open-plan kitchen, which allows guests to chat to the chef while he is preparing mouth-watering meals. End off the day’s activities with refreshing drinks on the sundowner deck, while viewing the spectacular sunset over the desert.

Guests at Dune Camp can enjoy a variety of activities including morning and afternoon game drives, nature drives, hot-air ballooning, bird watching, nature walks, star-gazing, scenic flights, full-day safari picnics in the wild and sundowners on the dunes.
