Critchley Hackle is a luxurious restorative retreat, situated on the outskirts of Dullstoom’s slow-brewed bustle.  Offering the perfect balance of relaxation, fun and excitement, Critchley Hackle is a perfect holiday retreat for families and honeymooners alike.

Built in pointed stone, Critchley Hackle’s timeless architecture and lakeside setting, evokes an atmosphere of endless tranquillity. Boasting a unique character and inviting elements, Critchley Hackle provides a sense of peace in a romantic setting.

Rooms

Critchley Hackle offers accommodation in 23 beautifully appointed rooms. Individually decorated, the luxurious rooms capture the rustic charm of turn-of-the-century architecture. All suites are complete with a telephone, in-room safe and coffee making facilities.

The room types are:

Cottages: Set slightly back from the lakeside, the cottages are surrounded by country gardens. Cottages range from two-sleeper to four-sleeper units and offer en-suite bathrooms, living areas and a fireplace to ensure a warm and cosy stay.

Lakeside Tower: Situated beside the lake, the Tower comprises three separate rooms which are adjoined by a common entrance. These rooms sleep two guests and offer an en-suite bathroom, living area and a private veranda which allows access to the lake side.

Lakeside Superior: Situated on the lake frontage, these rooms sleep two guests. Superior rooms offer an en-suite bathroom, living area, fireplace and a private veranda offers uninterrupted views of the lake.

Lakeside Deluxe Suites: Nestled on the water’s edge, Deluxe Suites sleeps 4. These suites have separate sleeping and living areas - the main bedroom with en-suite bathroom is downstairs and one bedroom is upstairs. A private veranda leads directly onto the lakeside, offering spectacular views.

Dining

Critchley Hackle’s restaurant is set on the water’s edge and offers contemporary cuisine combined with a few traditional favourites. Enjoy a sumptuous buffet breakfast, and an a la carte lunch, prepared with fresh locally sourced ingredients. As the sun sets, enjoy a candlelit dinner paired with fine South African wines, served in the Critchley Hackle dining room. End off your day with a refreshing drink at Critchley’s Damn Bar – the perfect curtain call to a great day.

Activities

Critchley Hackle offers a variety of activities for young and old including horse riding, shopping, fly fishing, trap shooting, hiking and nature walks. On warm summer days, cool off in the garden swimming pool, and rejuvenate and self-pamper with spa delights.
