General Information

Canon Lodge is nestled against massive granite boulders, offering guests an intimate experience of this magical African landscape. Situated in the Gondwana Canon Park, Canon lodge is a perfect base from which to explore the wonders of the Fish River Canyon.

Set along a desert track, Canon Lodge presents discerning travellers and honeymooners with a peaceful oasis, seemingly in the middle of nowhere. Designed to blend in with the natural environment, the lodge is built from natural materials, including local rock and thatch, to complement the spectacular scenery.

An old farmhouse serves as the Canon Lodge restaurant. Beautifully restored, it is decorated with various farm implements – evoking memories of the pioneering farming days. Its main attraction is an awe-inspiring view of the canyon landscape.

Rooms

Canon Lodge comprises 25 thatched, wooden chalets. Beautifully designed with granite walls, the chalets are equipped with comfortable twin beds, en-suite bathrooms, fan, mosquito nets and a private veranda – perfect for viewing the vast landscape surrounding your room. Boulders protrude into the bathrooms, allowing guests to experience oneness with nature.

Dining

Enjoy warm hospitality and traditional Namibian meals served at the Canon Restaurant. Yoghurt, cheese, cold meat as well as eggs are produced by the lodge’s Self-Sufficient Centre. Order a light lunch from the a-la-carte menu, and for dinner indulge in game dishes from the sumptuous buffet, ranging from oryx stew to roast lamb. End off your day with a refreshing drink at the bar while viewing the spectacular sunset.

Activities

Experience the natural wonder of the Fish River Canyon with various activities including morning hikes, canyon and scenic drives, horse riding, scenic flights and sundowner walks. Spend your day at leisure and relax on the shaded terrace with your favourite book or laze beside the sparkling swimming pool.
