General Information

Camp Kalahari is set amongst the palms and acacias of Hyena Island in the Kalahari – boasting an atmosphere of peace and serenity. Combining style and comfort, Camp Kalahari offers a truly special safari destination for couples and families alike – children of all ages are welcome at the lodge.

Situated on the edge of the famous Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, the area surrounding Camp Kalahari attracts an array of water birds and dramatic migrations of both wildebeest and zebra - providing the perfect base to explore this unique region of Botswana.

Built by local craftsmen, using traditional methods and materials, Camp Kalahari offers a tranquil and relaxing environment, combining Western comforts with the flair and colours of the African continent.

Rooms

Camp Kalahari has 10 comfortable Meru tents consisting of seven twin tents, two double tents and one family unit - comprising two twin tents with an inter-leading bathroom. Designed in an old classic safari style, the tents are equipped with comfy beds, cosy African blankets, crisp cotton sheets, hot water bottles during winter, and outdoor en-suite bathrooms offering the ultimate African experience.

Dining

Indulge in a unique picnic breakfast on the Pans, or enjoy a lazy lunch beside the refreshing swimming pool. The camp's expert chef might even prepare his one-of-a-kind 'Pilli-Pilli Ho-Ho' for you - a near lethal blend of chillies marinated in sherry and gin smeared over your breakfast eggs. End off your day with sundowners at the camp’s bar before you light up the African sky with a sumptuous barbeque for dinner.

Activities

During the heat of the day guests are invited to take a dip in the plunge pool or relax in the thatched library with a good read. For those looking for fun and adventure, a range of activities can be enjoyed including interacting with the resident family of meerkats, night and day game drives, quad biking, trips to the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, guided bush walks, overnight expeditions to Kubu Island, cultural interactions at an authentic Cattle Outpost and visits to archaeological sites to view stone age tools.
