DAY 1 – 2: VICTORIA FALLS TO HWANGE NATIONAL PARK
Depart early morning from Victoria Falls and drive about 2 hours to Hwange National Park – the largest Park in Zimbabwe.
Once a royal hunting ground to the Zulu warrior King Mzilikazi, Hwange National Park is an African safari haven. The Park boasts a tremendous selection of fauna and flora, including over 100 species of mammals, 400 species of birds and 100 species of trees and shrubs.
Upon your arrival, you will go on an optional game drive if time allows. The next day you will have plenty of time to explore Hwange’s wilderness on a full day game drive. On your Zimbabwe safari you may spot buffalo, zebra, giraffe, big cats, hyena, wild dog and rhino.
Accommodation: Camping in Hwange National Park (Tents, communal ablutions with hot water)
DAY 3: MAKGADIKGADI PANS, BOTSWANA
Your day starts early, as you leave Hwange National Park behind for a Botswana safari. Heading south to Planet Baobab, you stop at the Nata Bird Sanctuary for lunch. Here you have the opportunity to enjoy the magnificent views over the Sowa pan, which is part of the Greater Makgadikgadi Pans and you may spot a wide variety of wildlife, including lion, zebra, wildebeest, meerkat, brown hyena, bushbuck, springbok, gemsbok and steenbok.
After appreciating the wide-open, uninhabited spaces under the endless canopy of blue sky, you step off for your final stop of the day, Planet Baobab. On your Botswana safari, you embark on a bush walk with a local guide, learning about the history, flora and fauna of the area and use of various plants in traditional life.
Accommodation: Camping at Planet Baobab or similar (tents, wash rooms with hot water and “shebeen” bar).
DAY 4: MAUN AND THE KHWAI RIVER, BOTSWANA
After breakfast, you make your way to Maun where your Botswana safari comes to an end.
