As one of Africa´s premier safari destinations, a Botswana Safari Holiday will offer the eye a plethora of natural beauty and contrasts. Technically the country is a desert, but as the annual rains arrive, this landscape is transformed into a lush tropical paradise, home to some of the greatest concentrations of wildlife in Africa; all making for a soul-inspiring safari holiday experience.
Apart from the natural beauty Botswana possesses, it’s the country’s conservation outlook on tourism that makes it so extraordinary. Low impact, highly sustainable travel reduces the number of visitors on any of our Botswana tours and safaris, and it is the lack of people in pristine natural surroundings that make a Botswana safari holiday so special.

Top regions for the perfect Botswana Safari Holiday
Okavango Delta: Fed by a river which never meets the sea, this is the world’s largest inland delta system which floods annually, forming a network of water channels, lagoons, swamps and islands covering 17,000 square kilometres. This is a forgotten Eden, jam-packed with animals.
Chobe National Park: Named for the Chobe River, this is the place to go if you want to see big game, especially elephants. Botswana´s second-largest national park covers 10,566 square kilometres and four eco-systems, from riverine forest to dry, desert-like hinterland, open swamps and marshes
Kalahari & Makgadikgadi Pans:The heart of the desert which covers 84% of the country, the Central Kalahari Game Reserve is a vast expanse of parched savannah, saltpans and river beds covering 52,800 square kilometres. The fascinating Makgadigadi Pans spend half the year wet, half dry.
Seasons for a Botswana Safari Holiday
Botswana is a year round safari destination, although there are distinct advantages and attractions to the differing seasons.
As a rule of thumb, the best time for a Botswana safari holiday is the dry months of May to October. The rainfall has stopped, visibility is excellent as grasses start getting shorted and animals concentrate around rivers and permanent waterholes. Temperatures start to drop to their coldest by the end of June with night temperatures reaching as low as 5°C (very cold on night drives due to wind chill factor). Daytime temperatures rise up to a very comfortable 25°C and dusty dry conditions begin to dominate.
November to April is a less popular time for a Botswana safari holiday, although clients wanting to travel here will experience a vastly different landscape and benefit from low season and green season rate reductions. This is the rainy season, where temperatures soar and it can get very humid (with an increased risk of malaria) As the rain comes, Botswana explodes into action. The birthing season begins and predators seek out the vulnerable young and kill many times a day to get their fill. The colours are vivid with plantlife and sunsets (an excellent time for photographers), and the birdwatching is superb.
