Hermanus has grown from an old fisherman’s town to being acknowledged as one of the best places in the world to view whales – offering a perfect destination for an unforgettable South African holiday. Situated a 90-minute drive from Cape Town, the quaint town of Hermanus is the heart of the South African Whale Coast.

TOUR OUTLINE

Your boat based whale watching trip begins upon your arrival at the New Harbour in Hermanus. You will have a 10-minute talk about the whales, before departing in the whale watching boat ‘The Whale Cruiser’.

During the trip you might see three types of whales, dolphins, seals, penguins and a variety of sea birds. With annual migrations to the Cape South Coast, the Hermanus waters are the breeding ground of the Southern Right whale. The whales often come as close as 1 metre, offering spectacular photo opportunities.

The skipper and guides that accompany you on your boat-based whale watching trip are registered SATOUR guides from the local community. They will share their excellent knowledge of the area, local sea conditions and weather patterns.

Snacks, mineral water and soft drinks are served during the trip.
