Belvidere Manor is situated beside the tranquil western shore of Knysna’s lagoon, offering a romantic and relaxed getaway. Proclaimed a national monument, this historic establishment has been lovingly restored while retaining its old world charm, beauty and serenity.

Set on 10 acres of land, Belvidere Manor boasts superb views of Knysna’s lagoon through manicured colonial-style gardens – the perfect breakaway spot. With more than 270 species of bird, the estate is a nature lover’s paradise.

Combining gracious hospitality with a relaxed and tranquil environment, Belvidere Manor offers luxury accommodation from which guests may contemplate the more frenetic activity at the opposite end of the lagoon.

Rooms

Accommodation at Belvidere Manor consists of 28 Cape-style cottages, overlooking either the Knysna lagoon or the hotel gardens. All cottages are equipped with a wide veranda, comfortable lounge with fireplace, a fully fitted kitchen, telephone, television with satellite channels, DVD player, WIFI access and overhead fans.

The room types are:

Garden Deluxe: Offering garden views, this double storey cottage is situated in the grounds above the Manor House. The main suite is upstairs and the second suite with twin beds is downstairs.

Garden Classic: Situated in the grounds above the Manor House, this single storey cottage offers views of the garden and guests have a choice of 2- or 3-bedroomed cottages.

Lagoon Deluxe: Offering views of the lagoon, this single storey, double suite cottage is situated in the grounds below the Manor House.

Lagoon Classic: Situated in the grounds below the Manor House, this single storey cottage has a single suite and offers beautiful views of the lagoon.

Dining

Enjoy lazy breakfasts on the veranda of Belvidere House and light lunches beside the pool. Dinner is served at Caroline’s Bistro, offering locally sourced produce such as ostrich meat and Karoo lamb. Guests can dine on country-style cuisine with a contemporary South African flair. Unwind and enjoy the cosy atmosphere at Knysna’s smallest pub, The Bell Tavern, which serves light meals and a wide selection of beers, wines and spirits.

Activities

Belvidere Manor is a short drive to Knysna’s many attractions including the Featherbed Nature Reserve, Millwood House Museum, Knysna Elephant Park, Monkeyland and the Knysna Oyster Farm. The area is well known for some of the country’s best golf courses and, for the truly adventurous, there are canoeing, abseiling, hiking, biking, fishing, diving, bungee jumping, paragliding and low level flying.
