  • Expereince the history of the battlefields on horseback with informative guides

Isandlwana Lodge is carved into the iNyoni rock overlooking Mount Isandlwana, the site of the historic Anglo-Zulu war battle which took place on the 22nd of January, 1879.

Take time to relax at the luxurious Lodge and re-live the history of both the Anglo Zulu and Anglo Boer Wars, as well as enjoy the vibrant culture of the modern Zulu people. Or even visit one of the famous Zululand Game Reserves.

Unwind at the pool, built among the rocks after a day on the battlefields. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the library where you can hone up on your history. Make new friends in the pleasant surroundings of the lounge and or just relax on your private balcony.

Isandlwana Lodge is within comfortable driving distance of several of South Africa’s most spectacular game reserves, adjoining Umfolozi and Hluhluwe game reserves, enabling guests to combine enjoyment of Zululand’s rich wildlife heritage as well as the living history of the battlefields.

"Words cannot describe what a marvellous time
we all had at Isandlwana Lodge. The horse ride was
better than anyone could have imagined - We were
treated to an awesome and beautiful setting,
a sumptuous lunch and local entertainment that was so
naturally done. What a story! What a place! What a team!"
Brig. DH Keenan OBE, Brigadeer, Defence Adviser Pretoria
