GENERAL INFORMATION

Phinda Game Reserve, located between the azure waters of the Indian Ocean and the lush waterways of the World Heritage Greater Saint Lucia Wetland Park, boasts 17 000 hectares span seven unique ecosystems. Seven distinct habitats shelter an abundance of wildlife including Africa’s Big Five and over 380 bird species, while the marine diversity off the nearby coast of Sodwana is said to rival the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

The Phinda Rock Lodge consists of six exceptional suites suspended from the side of a rocky cliff. Warm and friendly service is coupled with spectacular views of Leopard rock and the valley below. Guests can look forward to exciting game-drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles led by experienced rangers and Zulu trackers, as well as thrilling optional activities on the water, in the air and on the beach. ROOMS

Six romantic stone and adobe ('mud-pack') air-conditioned luxury suites all have private plunge pools and game-viewing decks offering unrivalled views of the valley below. The suites are decorated with artwork from Spain and Mexico. The colour scheme is warm and inviting, blending beautifully with the ochre mud-packed walls. Three suites feature outdoor showers.

Expanses of windows frame views of impressive rock formations, and fill the rooms with light. In the private lounge, a beautiful sisal rug is complemented by comfortable lounge chairs, perfect for relaxing and admiring the view.

DINING

The guest dining and sitting areas have imposing fireplaces and hand-wrought chandeliers and open out onto a shaded deck with sweeping views of the Lebombo Mountains and bushveld below and beyond.
