Built in 1904 as the North Quay Warehouse and converted in 1990 to a boutique style luxury hotel, it is named in honour of the Queen of England and her son, who visited the Breakwater Basin, today's renowned Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.

The Victoria and Alfred Hotel is located right in the middle of one of the country’s top destinations, guests can walk in the utmost safety to some of the finest retail outlets, from designer stores to restaurants, cinemas and entertainment in the amphitheatre.

On the doorstep.... The bustling sights and sound of the world famous Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Brimming with shopping opportunities, craft market finds and entertainment galore, the Waterfront could keep guests occupied for days. Stroll through the sophisticated mall, grab a cappuccino or take a seat at any of the first rate restaurants and drink in the surrounding harbourside views.

Robben Island ferry trips depart at the Waterfront, taking only 40 minutes to reach the island. Departing with this ferry is an exquisite experience in itself; you leave the tranquil waters of the bay watching a video on the struggle in the old South Africa. At Robben Island guests are shown the prison itself, visit all the various blocks from A to G; the B block is the famous block where Mr. Nelson Mandela was imprisoned.

The Victoria & Alfred Hotel boasts 94 large rooms, superbly furnished, with air-conditioning. Each room has a full-size bath and separate shower, a separate toilet, fully stocked refreshment centre, television, hairdryer, trouser presses, wireless internet connectivity and DVD players. The rooms enjoy unrivalled views of Table Mountain and the city, or the vibrant working harbour and Table Bay.

The Victorian and Alfred Hotel dining can be at the OYO Restaurant & Cocktail Bar or guetss can relax alfresco on the quayside Terrace and enjoy the unique setting and atmosphere with majestic Table Mountain in the background.

Guests can learn about the Cape’s award-winning spectacular wines through regular gourmet food and wine evenings, with a different wine to complement each superlative course of haute cuisine, a little live music... and a talk by the winemaker.
