General Information
The Abu Camp is set on the edge of a large lagoon surrounded by a pristine pocket of riverine forest and hardwood trees. Threaded by crystal waters this shady corner of the Okavango Delta has a vast diversity of animals and birds - making it the perfect African holiday spot to explore the magnificent wilderness surrounding of this untouched land.
Named after a special bull elephant, the Abu Camp is unique in that it allows guests the opportunity to interact with the resident elephant herd. Create magical moments and become part of the elephant herd during your stay by watching the evening feed or enjoy the simple frolicking of a youngster.
Relax in soft and comfortable chairs while viewing pictures of Abu and the elephant family in the lounge or absorb yourself in the well-stocked library which offers a number of field guides and illustrated volumes on the wildlife surrounding your African camp.
Rooms
Accommodation is in six luxurious custom-designed tents with private decks overlooking the lagoon. Comprised of 4 twin room tents and 2 double room tents, the Abu Camp is ideal for honeymooners or a family with children looking for the ultimate safari experience. The tents provide a spacious and airy retreat, with high ceilings and roll-down canvas on the windows that allow you to look out over the surrounding wilderness. Furnished with four-poster beds or antique sleigh beds, the tents have a Bedouin influence, blending in flawlessly with the African bush. The luxurious en-suite bathrooms are complete with copper or porcelain baths, showers and flush toilet.
Dining
The dining area is set on a layered deck and allows you to enjoy magnificent meals conjured by a safari chef, catering to all tastes and dietary requirements. Experience the breathtaking views of the lagoon while enjoying post-safari sundowners or a wide variety of cocktails, served at the well-stocked bar.
Activities
The Abu Camp offers morning and afternoon game drives, night drives and nature walks to view the abundance of fauna and flora in the area. Guests are encouraged to take to the waters in the traditional mokoros (canoe) or cool off in the nearby plunge pool.
